The Sports for Transformation (SfT) Fellowship, presented by the Dani Foundation, is a pioneering initiative in India. It's designed to unite passionate young individuals and equip them with the tools to harness the transformative power of sports for societal betterment. This two-year residential program offers an interdisciplinary approach, blending hands-on experience with theoretical knowledge.

Are you ready to channel your passion for sports into meaningful community development? The Dani Foundation's Sports for Transformation (SfT) Fellowship invites you to step into a role that goes beyond the ordinary. This distinctive two-year program harnesses the unifying power of sports to foster community growth and personal leadership.

As a fellow, you'll play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of children by introducing them to the joys and lessons of sports. Your journey begins in the vibrant settings of Kapadwanj, Gujarat, immersing you in the heart of grassroots sports initiatives. In your second year, you'll have the freedom to choose your location from our various operational sites, tailoring your experience to your passions and career aspirations.

 

This fellowship isn't just about sports; it's about crafting leaders who can envision and drive societal change. You'll emerge with not only enriched perspectives but also with leadership skills that will shape your professional and personal paths.

  • We are looking for youth between the ages of 20-26, who have passion and commitment towards our movement that places every child’s right to play and learn at the heart of what we do.

  • In order to be eligible for the fellowship, you must be an Indian citizen, and must have graduated with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree by June/July 2024.

  • Our cohort will be diverse. Youth from varied social and academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applicants with demonstrated experience in leadership roles in sports development, coaching and/or have participated in district or state level sports will be preferred but it is not mandatory.

  • What is the SfT Fellowship?
    The SfT Fellowship is India's premier sports for development initiative. It's a two-year residential interdisciplinary program that aims to unite passionate youth to harness the power of sports for positive societal transformation.
  • Why should I join the SfT Fellowship?
    If you're passionate about sports and wish to contribute to the sports and development ecosystem in India, this fellowship is for you. It offers a comprehensive insight into Sports for Transformation and the broader sports ecosystem in India, allowing you to hone your leadership skills and deepen your understanding of specific sports domains.
  • What is the duration of the SfT Fellowship?
    The fellowship spans two years, commencing in June 2024 and concluding in May 2026.
  • What does the fellowship journey entail?
    The fellowship is divided into two years: Year 1: Onboarding, school orientation, sports and physical education interventions, community projects, and two bootcamps. Year 2: Specialization project, industrial internship or research project, and two additional bootcamps.
  • What experiences can I expect during the fellowship?
    Fellows will conduct sports and physical education classes, develop and implement projects, gain theoretical insights from experts, experience personal growth, and receive specialized training and professional exposure in the sports ecosystem.
  • What is the eligibility criteria for the fellowship?
    Applicants should be aged 20-26, possess a minimum Bachelor's degree, be proficient in English, and be comfortable working with diverse children. Preferred candidates have sports experience, have worked with children or communities, and have demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Where will I be placed during the fellowship?
    In the first year, fellows will be in Kapadvanj, Gujarat. In the second year, they can choose their location from where the program operates, based on their specialization.
  • What is the stipend for the fellowship?
    Fellows receive a stipend of 18000 INR, plus accommodation and travel reimbursements.
  • What kind of accommodation is provided?
    Accommodation is provided at the base location on a sharing basis.
  • What mentorship and guidance will I receive?
    Fellows receive regular support sessions, mentorship, and guidance from field experts. Each fellow is also assigned a mentor for their journey.
  • What opportunities await post-fellowship?
    Post-fellowship, individuals can venture into various sports development domains in India and abroad, including curriculum development, sports management, entrepreneurship, and more.
  • Can I support the movement even if I'm not selected for the fellowship?
    Absolutely! Volunteering and internship opportunities are available. Check the website or contact info@elmssports.org for details.
  • Who are the partners for the SfT Fellowship?
    Project Chhalaang is our knowledge partner, and Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal is the implementation partner.
  • After submitting my application, when can I expect to hear back?
    Once you've submitted your application, we aim to review it and respond within 2-3 weeks. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about the next steps in the selection process.
  • Will I receive support or guidance during the SfT Fellowship selection process?
    Yes, we're here to assist you throughout the selection process. If you have any questions or need clarification at any stage, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
